backoffice map: 100% random map choice was luckily our home map :) "dont take this too seriosly" - by Slackers

Report

There was a lot of drama involved in this game, first of all there was a huge problem because there was 2ms pingdifference between both teams it took a while before that was solved but ok. The first two maps were played. The usual procedure was that in case a decidermap was needed someone used the bot in #smackdown to name a random map. However it stated in the rules that it is also allowed (or maybe it was the official procedure) that an admin can let the smackdown backoffice program pick a random map. This is exactly what the SD NEU Season 3 headadmin Apollyon did, the map became dm3. On itself this wouldn't have been a problem if not Apollyon had been cheering The Viper Squad on during the game and even though dm3 was stated as Slackers' homemap they wanted dm6 as a decider. What followed was an hour of whine with Slackers saying that Apollyon was not impartial and picked the decider himself, nobody could see what the backoffice said ofcourse since only admins had access to it. In the end the teams did play and as you can see Slackers won but the backoffice hasn't been used since to produce random maps. Some admins did some testing and it seemed to turn out that it created a random map which you could not change.

The demo from the hour of whine was posted on Challenge-TV by flintheart three years later, if you have nothing to do it's worth to check it out.
